What we train
Puppy Training
The earlier you start, the easier everything gets. Our puppy training programme covers the fundamentals — sit, stay, come, leash manners, and socialisation — in a way that’s positive, consistent, and built for young dogs still figuring out the world. We lay the groundwork so your puppy grows into a confident, well-mannered adult dog.
Basic Obedience
Perfect for dogs of any age who need a solid foundation. We cover the core commands every dog should know — sit, stay, down, come, heel, and leave it — using reward-based methods that actually stick. Most dogs show real improvement within the first few sessions.
Behavioral Training
Jumping, pulling on the lead, excessive barking, aggression, separation anxiety, resource guarding — these are behaviours we deal with every day. We get to the root cause rather than just managing the symptom, and we give you the tools to maintain progress at home.
Our approach
Discipline, consistency, and genuine care
- Built on military discipline. Our owner’s military background isn’t just a story — it shapes how we train. Consistency, structure, and clear communication are the foundation of everything we do. Dogs thrive with routine and boundaries, and we know how to build both.
- Positive, reward-based methods. We don’t use fear or punishment. We use praise, reward, and repetition to build confident dogs who want to behave — not dogs who behave because they’re scared not to.
- We train the owner too. A well-trained dog still needs a consistent owner at home. Every session includes guidance for you — how to reinforce commands, how to handle setbacks, and how to keep the progress going long after training ends.
- Tailored to your dog. No two dogs are the same. Before we begin, we assess your dog’s temperament, history, and specific challenges so the programme we build is actually designed for them.

How long does dog training take?
It depends on the dog and the goal. Basic obedience typically shows real results within four to six sessions. Behavioural issues may take longer depending on the root cause. We’ll give you a realistic timeline after the initial assessment — we don’t drag sessions out unnecessarily.
What age can I start training my puppy?
As early as eight weeks old. The earlier you start socialisation and basic commands, the easier everything becomes. Young puppies are sponges — early training shapes their entire personality and behaviour as adults.
My dog is older — is it too late to train them?
Not at all. The saying that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks simply isn’t true. Adult and senior dogs respond very well to training, especially when it’s consistent and reward-based. It may take a little more patience but the results are just as real.
Do I need to be present during training sessions?
We encourage it. Understanding what your dog is learning and how to reinforce it at home is a huge part of the process. A dog that’s well trained with us but gets mixed signals at home will struggle to maintain progress.
What training methods do you use?
We use positive, reward-based training methods. We don’t use punishment, fear, or aversive tools. Our approach is firm, consistent, and kind — the same values that underpin everything we do at Fur Baby.
What breeds do you train?
All of them. Every breed, every size, every temperament. Some breeds need more patience or a different approach but there isn’t a dog we won’t work with. If your dog has specific breed-related traits or challenges just let us know when you get in touch.

Core Values
Get the most out of your dog’s stay
If your dog is already boarding with us, why not add training to their stay? It’s the most efficient way to make real progress — your dog is already in a structured environment, already building routine, and already with people they trust.
